Buffalo Hospital Foundation is calling on behalf of students

BUFFALO, Minn. 04/24/2008--Buffalo Hospital Foundation is launching a telephone campaign to support the Buffalo Hospital Foundation Community Health Care Scholarship Program for the community's future health care professionals. Each year, $500 scholarships are awarded to students from ten different high schools in Wright County.

Since the Buffalo Hospital Foundation Community Health Care Scholarship Program was created in 2004, local high school students have received more than $20,000 in scholarships. The scholarships benefit students in the 10 school districts served by Buffalo Hospital.

"With the predicted shortage of healthcare workers increasing, it is critical to support and inspire our students to pursue careers in the medical field," says Steve Hatkin, president of Buffalo Hospital. "We hope many of these students will choose to return to our community to continue the tradition of providing excellent care and service."

Buffalo Hospital Foundation is a catalyst for innovative services and facilities to improve community health. Established in 2003, this young foundation has been instrumental in offering new programs locally, such as Heart Safe Communities that places AEDs in community locations and the DAAN initiative that fosters wise nutrition and activity choices in school, workplace and community settings. Through donations, the foundation has also made improvements to the hospital, including a Family-Centered Care Room with amenities for families caring for elderly parents and small children.
