Service Definitions
Orthopedic Rehab
Physical and occupational therapists evaluate and treat conditions that involve
the joints of the spine and extremities. Therapists help patients recover from
total knee or hip surgeries, acute back and neck problems, sprains and strains
of the shoulder, knee, ankle, or foot as well as tennis elbow, wrist and hand
injuries.
Physical Therapy
Our team strives to reduce pain and achieve optimal movement and function.
Physical Therapy concentrates on walking skills, building strength, balance
and coordination. Physical Therapists evaluate and treat conditions that involve
the spine and extremities. They help patients recover from total knee or hip
surgeries, acute back and neck problems, sprains and strains of the shoulder,
knee ankle or foot. They also focus on pain management and improving functional
activities. Patients range in age from two-year-old children to the elderly.

Sports Medicine
Sports medicine is designed to care for recreational and competitive athletes
of all ages. Focusing on the prevention of sports injuries and treatment of
acute injuries, our athletic trainer works with the sports medicine team which
includes a sports therapist along with primary care and orthopedic physicians.
Our trainers also work with student athletes at schools in Buffalo, Maple Lake
and Rockford providing care and teaching prevention of athletic injuries.

Work Injury Program
Our occupational health and rehabilitation services assist businesses in the
treatment and prevention of job-related back pain and upper-extremity over-use
injuries. Services include preplacement screenings, ergonomic assessments, job
site analyses and Personal Fitness Assessments. Workers with acute injuries are often seen for physical and/or occupational
therapy.
Nutrition Counseling
Educating people on healthy eating habits complements the rehabilitation process.
Counseling topics range from weight loss and controlling cholesterol to heart
healthy eating and diabetes management. Our dietitian also conducts several
healthy eating courses for community members.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists help people with physical or mental disabilites or illnesses live as independently as possible by providing skills for the job of living, including:
Rehabilitation to assist patients regain a higher level of independence with activities of daily living including a focus on motor, cognitive or sensory deficits which affect daily function. Common diagnoses include CVA, Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Dementia.
Hand therapy including comprehensive evaluation and treatment for clients who have an injury or disease of the upper extremity. Common diagnoses include fractures, arthritis, tendon injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, trigger finger, and wrist tendonitis.
Pediatric therapy providing personalized treatment for children from birth to adolescence who have medical conditions or syndromes that may interfere with typical development. Common diagnoses include Autism, ADD/ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury, and Sensory Processing Disorders.

Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory therapists evaluate and treat a variety of disorders including
asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and atelectasis (collapsed tiny lung airways).
Diagnostic tests are used to determine treatment options which may include inhaler
or nebulizer therapy (opens the airway), bronchial drainage, oxygen therapy
or incentive spirometry (lung expansion exercise). For patients with chest pain
or shortness of breath, cardiac stress testing is available to determine if
the heart is getting enough oxygen during exercise or work. Pulmonary rehabilitation
helps increase strength and endurance for patients with chronic breathing problems.
Respiratory therapy uses walking, upper extremity exercises and biofeedback
to teach relaxation and better breathing techniques.

Speech Therapy
Speech therapy emphasizes the ability to express one's self and to understand
others. Therapists treat patients of all ages who have difficulties with voice, articulation,
stuttering, and language. Speech therapists also evaluate and treat swallowing
difficulties caused by stroke, head injury, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
