	Richard Pettingill Chief executive officer (CEO) Richard "Dick" Pettingill has been chief executive officer (CEO) of Allina Hospitals & Clinics since 2002. His diverse background includes several years in a premiere academic medical center, a district and community hospital system and, prior to joining Allina, at California-based Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation's largest integrated health care systems. Pettingill currently serves on the Allina Hospitals & Clinics Board of Directors and the board for Texas-based Tenet Healthcare Corporation. Active in his community, Pettingill serves on the board of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and is involved with the Guthrie Theater and Assistance League. He belongs to Rotary International, a global network of community volunteers. Pettingill and his wife, Karen, enjoy the theater, exercise, bird watching and foreign travel. They have two adult sons, who love visiting Minnesota. In 2001, Pettingill completed the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Program. He has a master's degree in health care administration from San Jose State University and a bachelor's in public administration from San Diego State University.
	Kenneth Paulus President and chief operating officer Kenneth Paulus will become Allina Hospitals & Clinics' next president and chief executive officer (CEO) when Dick Pettingill retires in 2009. Paulus assumes the title of president and chief operating officer on July 1, 2008. As chief operating officer, Paulus, 48, has been responsible for the operations of Allina's 11 hospitals, specialty operations and clinic groups, the Allina Medical Clinic and Aspen Medical Group. As well, he has led numerous growth initiatives, including a number of joint ventures, partnerships and acquisitions. Before joining Allina in 2006, Paulus was president and chief executive officer of Massachusetts-based HealthOne Care System, one of the nation's largest physician organizations and a teaching and research affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Prior to that he was chief operating officer of Boston-based Partners Community HealthCare, Inc., and chief operating officer of Alta Bates Medical Resources in Berkeley, California. He is a Wisconsin native and University of Minnesota graduate.
	Mary P. Foarde General counsel and corporate secretary Mary P. Foarde, JD, is the general counsel and corporate secretary of Allina Hospitals & Clinics. Prior to her appointment as general counsel in February 2003, Foarde served Allina as vice president and deputy general counsel for seven years. She has been with Allina or one of its predecessors since 1989. Prior to her employment with Allina, she was a partner in the Minneapolis law firm of Maslon, Edelman, Borman & Brand. Foarde has more than 20 years of broad and diverse health care law and business experience, focusing her practice in the areas of physician and health care financial transactions, credentialing, and medical staff issues. She is an active member of both the Health Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association, and has been a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars on various health law topics. Foarde earned a juris doctor (JD) cum laude from the University of Minnesota School of Law and a bachelor of arts from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska.
	Sid Mallory Executive vice president for philanthropy Sid Mallory is the executive vice president for philanthropy. He leads the Office of Philanthropy as it develops an efficient and coordinated approach to philanthropy and development activities across Allina. Mallory has been president of the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation since 2002. Among his accomplishments in this role are: expanding the size of the Foundation board and volunteer base; dramatically increasing the number of new Foundation annual donors; raising $53 million to support the construction of a new heart hospital on the Abbott Northwestern campus; and implementing a new planned giving program, resulting in a $20 million planned gift in 2004. Prior to joining Allina, Mallory was vice president for development of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He has also served as director of external affairs for the Dallas Opera and chief executive officer of the Austin Museum of Art. Mallory has bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Sam Houston State University.
	Michael McAnder Chief financial officer Michael McAnder joined Allina Hospitals & Clinics in July 2007. As chief financial officer (CFO), he is responsible for ensuring that Allina resources are deployed properly to enhance the quality, safety and effectiveness of the care Allina provides to patients and communities. McAnder came to Allina from Banner Health in Phoenix, Arizona, where he served as system vice president of managed care and treasurer since 2001. In his 20 years with Banner Health, he held several senior leadership positions in the finance/treasury functions, including Arizona region chief financial officer and chief financial officer of one of Banner's predecessor organizations, Lutheran Healthcare Network. McAnder grew up in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He graduated from Moorhead State University in 1982 with a degree in accounting. He began his career with several health care organizations in the Fargo/Moorhead area, including Eide Bailly and Company and St. Ansgar Hospital. McAnder enjoys music, attending sporting events with his son, and fishing. His previous community service activities include serving on the boards of directors for Child Crisis Center of Mesa, Arizona, and New Way Learning Academy in Scottsdale, Ariz.
	Penny Ann Wheeler, MD Chief clinical officer Penny Wheeler, MD, chief clinical officer (CCO) of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, leads Allina's clinical quality and improvement agenda by collaborating with medical staffs, the Allina Board of Directors' Physician Governance Council and medical directors. She is responsible for ensuring best-of-practice approaches, ongoing innovation and excellence in care, and supporting the development and retention of effective clinicians. A board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, Wheeler has served patients at Women's Health Consultants in Minneapolis and taught as an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Minnesota. She has served as president of Abbott Northwestern Hospital's medical staff, as chairperson and vice-chairperson of the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department and on numerous committees. Prior to assuming the position of CCO in June 2006, Wheeler served on the Allina Hospitals & Clinics Board of Directors, where she led the Quality Committee. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Minnesota, and a doctorate of medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School.
